The Cosmostatistics Initiative (COIN) has entered into a strategic agreement with the TOLIMAN collaboration to enable the detection of exoplanets from diffractive pupil based relative astrometry from space.
The TOLIMAN space telescope is a low-cost, agile mission concept dedicated to astrometric detection that will make the first high-precision astrometric monitoring of our nearest stars by adopting an innovative optical and signal encoding architecture. The mission will be optimized to search for habitable planets, particularly targeting the Alpha Cen system.
Researchers from both collaborations will meet in Rome during the last week of November, to discuss and develop methodological data analysis strategies to make the TOLIMAN mission possible. Stay tuned for updates of the upcoming COIN-Focus Toliman meeting, which is being supported by the Breakthrough Initiatives.
